I Died, I Conquered.
Lying in your death bed, coughing away as you feel as though your lungs are about to collapse on you is not fun. But luckily for me, i only have to experience such a near death sickness only once every couple of years. The flu is such a pain when you have 3 days of uni, 3 days of work, and 7 days of studying.
This was only a fortnight ago when i couldn't even stand up to eat so that i could take my medication. I mean, wait, what medication? Everything we had at home was Panamax. I couldn't drive myself to the doctors because i couldn't even stand up without feeling light headed, so on Monday night, i took it as the evening i almost didn't see the light. On Tuesday, i was feeling slightly better thanks to the Panamax my dad urged me to take. That didn't, however, stop me from feeling like complete crap. Light headed was the day before, now came a headache and snoozing, slowly followed by the running nose. Where did my nose want to run to? I have no idea, but it just kept running. I, on the other hand, had no energy whatsoever to chase it
I didn't get to see my local GP until after the pharmacy had well and truly closed. It was quite disheartening to realise that i would have to suffer another day before i could be blessed with the holy medicine that would save my life. It was on the 3rd day of death when my parents presented me with what i needed 2 days ago. THANK YOU, MUM AND DAD. I owe you everything.
Thankfully, the medication hit me so strongly. It only took 2 days worth of holiness for me to start feeling a difference. Day 4 was Thursday, and i had work, but i was not about to go in and infect everyone's beverages, the normal thing to do was to call in sick, which i did. I only took 1 night off because i wasn't down for not getting paid that week. So sorry to the customers who had to endure my coughing, I promise i washed my hands regularly!
That was pretty much the story of my bi-annual sickness. I died, i conquered. And now i am stronger than ever (not really, i need to continue doing my squats). It was an emotional rollercoaster of me crying the pain away and having to take the nasty tasting liquid medicine. The liquid medicine wasn't TOO bad, but i was expecting the red child medicine that tasted like candy. Anyhow, i am all better now. I'm getting back on track on uni work, showing up to all my shifts, writing emails and doing assignments.
I hope no one else had to go through what i did, or at least had it a lot better than i did.
Stay warm, everyone. Spring is not in full swing, but hopefully, it isn't too far away.
Have a good day and until next time,
Jeanny.
